The sweet salty air of summer in New England calls to us from the depths of…wherever we are. The towering pines, the cool ocean breeze, the beautiful, rugged coastline. StableDuel is coming to Maine. Bangor to be precise. We’re hanging out with our people at Hollywood Casino Raceway Bangor on Saturday, July 2. We’re going harness racing. We’re going to be greeting people. We’re going to bet. We’re going to have some drinks and we’re going to have a lot of fun.

What do we know about Bangor? Well, we can start with its nickname; Bangor is often referred to as the “Queen City” of Maine. It earned this nickname due to its historical significance and status as a cultural and economic center in the region. Bangor has a rich history, particularly in relation to the lumber industry. In the 19th century, it was one of the world’s leading lumber ports, with timber being floated down the Penobscot River.

Bangor is home to perhaps one of the most famous authors in the world, Stephen King. He has been a long-time resident of the city and has set many of his stories in and around Bangor.

Literary types and mother nature aside, let’s get down to brass tacks. Bangor Raceway, also known as Bangor Historic Track has a long history and is considered one of the oldest harness racing tracks in the United States. The track originally opened in 1893 and has been hosting harness racing events ever since. The track is known for its half-mile oval racing surface and hosts a variety of harness racing events, including stakes races and special racing programs. It also features a grandstand area where spectators can watch the races and place their bets.
